Tag Rugby

On Thursday 18th October 2018, a group of Y6 pupils
went to a Tag Rugby Competition at Trinity. We all
tried our hardest and played as good as we could.
We had so much fun and we even won the competition.
We played 7 matches, we won 6 and drew 1.
At the end of the competition, we each received a
medal and a also trophy for our school. Oliver D
collected the trophy because he had scored the most
tries and even though we were a great team, we
couldn’t have won the competition without him.

On Friday 28th September 2018, ten Y6 pupils
went to a Tri-golf Competition at UCA. We all had lots
of fun at this event. There were lots of various challenges
in this competition and we all enjoyed the carousel of
activities using different golf clubs. At the end of the
competition, the points were read out and we found
out that we came 8th place out of 20. We were very
pleased with our result and we all had such a great day.

On Friday 21st September 2018, a large group of
children f
rom Y3-Y6 were chosen to go to a
Cross Country competition at Unity City Academy.
S
ome of our children had never been involved in
this competition before. We all tried our very best

fastest runner and he came 10th overall.
By the end of the competition we were all out of
breath but we enjoyed this great sporting event.

Sports Week

From Tuesday 26th until Friday 29th June we
had Sports Week in school. It was a really great
experience for everyone. We all had the chance to
try new activities we hadn’t tried before.
We had a go at rock climbing, laser tag, table tennis
and many more sporting activities.
Thank you to Mr Bartley and Mrs King for
organising such a great week for us all.

Tennis Competition

On Friday 27th April, twelve children from Y3 went
to Trinity College to take part in a Tennis competition.
We were all given stickers with a number on so we
knew when it was our turn to play
our tennis match.
We played against a lot of children from other schools.
After the competition was all finished, we had a fun
‘Egg and Spoon’ race and ‘Pass the Parcel’ game
using our racquets and tennis balls.
At the very end of the day, the results were read
out and we had won 1st place! We were so proud
of ourselves and we received a gold trophy to bring
back to school. We had a brilliant day playing tennis
and having fun with our class mates.

Skipping Festival

On Thursday 22nd February, children from Y3-Y5
went to a Skipping Festival & competition at
Middlesbrough Sports Village. Some children worked
together to perform tricks whilst others went solo.
As well as the individual performances, Miss Brannigan,
our own Y4/5 teacher, took her time to create a routine
for all of our pupils to perform. In this routine all the
children showed off their own talents.
The different events that were performed by the
children were, Double Bounce, Speed Bounce,
Face To Face, Butterfly, Hop Skip, Pretzel and
Backward Skipping. Overall, five children received
medals, Ella in Y5 won gold for the Pretzel,
Lucas in Y3 won silver for the Double Bounce,
Sophie & Lydia in Y4 won bronze for the Butterfly
and Amelia in Y4 won bronze for Speed Bounce.
Everyone had a fun time at the festival and were very
proud of our medals and all our great efforts.

Cross Country Competition

On Tuesday 16th January, boys & girls from Y3-Y6
participated in a Cross Country event at Trinity. First, the Y3/4
girls ran, then the Y3/4 boys ran. The Y5 girls and Y5 boys
ran next and after that it was the Y6 girls and Y6v boys races.
After every child had ran, they announced the top 3 children in
every division. Oliver D from Y5 came 3rd. He received a
medal and was very proud of himself. Another pupil who did
really well was Blake R from Y4. He came 9th, but
unfortunately, medals were only gave out to the top 3.
Trinity also announced the top 3 winning schools
and St Edward’s was the overall winning school.
Every child from St Joseph’s who took part
was extremely happy because they all ran really well
and had a great afternoon despite the cold weather.
